Yes it is personal: I was a stranger, too

Updated: Sep 16

A brief statement on the ongoing smear campaign of the most vulnerable people globally.

I rejected Trump in 2016 because I couldn’t believe the hate being spewed online against refugees by people I had trusted. I left the Republicans and the evangelicals over it. I was a stranger, too. I grew up with songs talking about caring for those who are hurting in the church, but what I experienced from American Christians was at best indifference, at worst mocking rage. This has changed me, even though my God has not changed. There is something truly evil in the evangelical church, and their continued support of Trump is an indictment of their morality. They have not cared for me; they are not sorry, and they do not love foreigners as they are commanded to do by Jesus. The problem is they get very offended if you point this out, pointing to their good works for immigrants.

It doesn’t mean much what you do for immigrants, if you let MAGA abuse and smear people. This is a discipleship issue.

Repentance is not for everyone else.🕊️

What kind of people smear refugees or immigrants when their ancestors were immigrants?

This can only be a revelation of a heart of racist hatred; there is no excuse for it, none.

Repentance is not for everyone else first. Christians repent. 🕊️
