I agree, though I'd say it's been 4+years of hell. I won't be back. I won't even attend a funeral in an evangelical church. Evangelicals must repent, and they must do so without me. I didn't ask for any of this nonsense. A lot of US were simply living our lives, and they abused US for our freedom. Their grasping at power and control has destroyed them - and good riddance.
I've said this before, but I want it clear for any family or evangelicals I used to worship alongside: I consider Trump-voting evangelicals on par with IS supporters. They have supported the proud and mocked the victims of abuse - whether it's racist or sexist abuse. "Pro-life" voters are not repentant, nor do they as a rule condemn their violent extremists.
This goes way beyond pain they have caused due to foolish ideas on authority and gender.
Trumpism is also, in fact, the very natural conclusion of such cruelly chauvinistic beliefs.
There is much grief in this, but there are certain people I will not be taking with me beyond 2020. They've had literally years to repent, and instead, they have demanded forgiveness.
But that's not how life works. So I'm telling it to the church, taking it public: I'm done.
Christian nationalists - and yes this includes some of my extended family and my parents - won't change and I won't be their victim.
Never again.
There is no reconciliation possible. Trump supporters, especially now, are dangerous. The only thing to do now is to protect myself, and those for whom I am responsible, from evil.
The time for reasoning together is past; the time for judgement has come. We are done.
The God I love is nothing like these people; the God I love is humble, kind, gentle and pure.
"The time has come for judgement, and to make the wounded whole."
