On Christlike Leadership

"You have heard that it was said,

‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

But I tell you, love your enemies and

pray for those who persecute you..."

I have seen President Biden and President Obama both behave in a Christlike way today. Christians are called to love even those who persecute them, and these men have modeled that for all of US.

It is an indictment on American evangelicals that they have not led the way in loving their “enemies”, preferring to vote for a boastful sexual abuser who did nothing to stop political violence when he lost an election, choosing to lie and continuing to fan the flames of threats towards private citizens and public servants even up to the present.

I will not tolerate any calls from MAGA to blame their political opponents for this culture of violence, when even teachers and law enforcement officers have had death threats from MAGA.

We did not deserve this.

Trump is responsible to repent of his failure to lead peacefully. He is not a fit leader and never should have been president. That does not mean he should be murdered.

No one in America should be living with the stress of violent abusive threats, and I never faced any of that until Trump. He is reaping what he has sown. He has been given grace by these presidents. Were he a presidential figure, he would not try to profit off of this horrifying event. He would have stopped violence from his own supporters rather than reveling in it.

Trump has never behaved like Christ; he has shown a love of violence.

Political violence is always wrong and there is no such thing as a “civil” war.

My prayer is that we love one another again.
