Trump supporters waved flags saying “Jesus Saves” and unlawfully entered the US Capitol Building, a beautiful place I have been to along with the White House, and they brutally attacked police officers, showed cruel contempt for life, even beating a law enforcement officer with an American flag pole. As a Christian and having studied the Nazis, I believe the evangelical community that rode this wave and called it pro-life must repent, not demand unity. I can’t imagine why this behavior would make the rest of US feel unsafe, but it certainly reminds me of Rwanda. These people who did this are our neighbors, our fellow Americans. The hurt is worse to me than 9/11, though the loss of life is less. The atittude that this is a “both sides” issue, or that we can all unite with people who would murder us, if they get into a mob like that, is unacceptable and evil. How can I, as someone who has been a foreigner, ever feel safe in Texas, with people who minimize and excuse this? Why should I trust anyone who thinks this was justified in any way?
