I have no regrets for having opposed Trump for the past 5 years or so. He has revealed himself to lack impulse control, lead by dividing, lie and abuse freely, and he has done real harm to countless numbers of my fellow Americans. Beyond that, he has capitalized on a culture that really thinks they are superior to others by virtue of their American birth.
Trumpism is disgustingly evil.
Whichever way this election turns out, this nation isn't going to recover easily from this.
It's always a lot easier to get an abuser into power than to get rid of an abuser.
I feel a profound sense of sadness knowing what we have yet to face in our culture, and I feel a deep grief that this could all have been avoided, and it wasn't, because a significant proportion of Americans did not care who he harmed. Not even if he harmed children.
He should have no support from the majority of Americans, and although it is a comfort to know he never did, it is shockingly painful to know how many Americans are truly cruel.
